COUNSELLING & MENTORING CELL
The Counselling & Mentoring Cell of Dr S C Gulhane Prerna College of Commerce, Science, and Arts supports the academic, emotional, psychological, and career development of students. The Cell aims to create a student-friendly environment by providing guidance, mentoring, and counselling services to help students overcome personal, academic, and social challenges.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide academic and personal counselling to students
- To support students’ mental well-being and emotional health
- To mentor students for academic progress and career planning
- To identify and support slow learners and students at risk
- To promote a positive and inclusive campus culture.
FUNCTIONS OF THE CELL
- To conduct mentoring sessions for students (one-to-one/group)
- To provide psychological counselling and emotional support
- To guide students in academic planning and exam preparation
- To assist students in career choices and higher education options
- To conduct stress management, time management, and life skills programs
- To maintain the confidentiality of student information.
GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL MECHANISM
Students may approach the Cell through:
- Direct interaction with mentors
- Scheduled counselling sessions
- Referral from departments or IQAC
MENTOR–MENTEE SYSTEM
- Each student is allotted a faculty mentor
- Regular mentor–mentee meetings are conducted
- Academic progress, attendance, and overall development are monitored
- Mentors guide students regarding career options, internships, and skill development
